Cannabidiol oil, more commonly known as CBD oil, has seen a rapid rise in popularity in a very short amount of time. CBD was first discovered in 1940 by Roger Adams of Harvard University. One of the early studies on cannabinoid compounds conducted in 1946 by Dr. Walter S. Loewe showed that while THC was intoxicating to animals, CBD was not. In the 1960’s tests were done on primates and CBD oil for therapeutic use was launched by British pharmacologists. In 1980, Dr. Raphael Mechoulam; (often thought to be the discoverer of CBD), tried to test whether CBD oil can be helpful in epilepsy treatment.
